Sunrise against ominous clouds

Sunrise against ominous clouds, originally uploaded by vskiran.

Its been a beautiful sunrise for the past few days and I was feeling terrible for making no efforts to photograph it, primarily because it was cold at this time of the day.

Finally, today I picked up my camera, set in on a tripod. I tired a few shots and then my eyes caught the attention of the cloud patterns.

Ramsay Cascade Falls, Smoky Mountains

After a long ardous 4mile hike up the trail, we were truly rewarded by this wonderful sight. Our pants were soaked wet in icy cold water, I wonder how we managed to hold on until the photo was made.

The water fall is over 100 Feet tall and during the four mile hike you gain an elevation of about 2400 feet. Be prepared for colder weather as the temperature could easily change by over 20F during the hike. It's streneous, but well worth it.

This shot did not have much of color detail so I decided to change it to Black and White. I did a bit of split toning to bring out the contrast in the image.

White Daisy's at Longwood Gardens

This is probably my first decent picture of a flower. It is said that flowers are a natural choice for budding photographers, especially since they provide wonderful opportunities in terms of color and composition. This definitely was true with me. I tried to keep the composition simple. I am not sure if I intended to defocus the lower petals, but it turned out to be quite interesting.

On hindsight, I should have tried a few more compositons. I could have tried to introduce an out of focus second subject to add some drama to the image. How I wish that I played around with the other flower in the frame

Welcome

Hearty welcome to my blog. There is something magical about a frozen moment in time. It helps us to rest for a moment and appreciate the finer things in life. I hope to utilize the medium to convey my impressions in life.

I am a beginning photographer and an avid photo enthusiast. This blog is intended to journal my photographic adventures as I learn my way with the camera.

I truly appreciate your observations and comments. Its always fun to have a bit of photo talk.
